Primary Bathroom Tour

I am so excited to share our primary bathroom tour with you.

We decided to remodel our primary bathroom because the space wasn’t working for us. The tub was a jetted tub that I couldn’t ever get clean. Things would always come our from the jets.

Products Sourced

I am breaking down all the products I used to create this gorgeous space for us.

I used my guide for planning for a remodel to ensure we were organized during the entire process.

White Subway Tile In Shower

When deciding on tile for the bathroom, I knew I wanted something that was classic. Back when I lived in an apartment in Chicago, the bathroom was filled with white subway tile.

I absolutely loved how it looked all those years ago, so I wanted to create something like that in our bathroom.

These white subway tile from TileBar worked perfectly. We also used black grout which tied in nicely with the shower flooring.

Black Hex Tile On Shower Floor

In our old kitchen, I had hexagon tile as the kitchen backsplash. So I wanted to keep that same shape but use it in our bathroom.

I found these hexagon tile from TileBar. They were perfect for the flooring of the shower and the back of the bump insert to store our shampoo bottles.

Floor Tile

For the floor, I wanted a wood tile. Something that looked like wood.

And we had a lot of space to cover, so I wanted a long tile that would have a wood grain to it.

These silkwood tile from TileBar worked perfectly.

We also went with a grout close to the darkest color of the tile. This way it looked cleaner.

Black Clawfoot Tub

I love clawfoot tubs. I think there is something so timeless about them.

So we searched everywhere for a black clawfoot tub for our bathroom.

I was looking on sale sites, going to local shops, and digging past the fifth page of Google to find something that would fit.

And I found the perfect clawfoot tub from Lowes of all places!

bathroom vanity

Black Vanity

Our vanity created a lot of issues for us. Because our bathroom has a lot of weird angles, we had two options. Get a custom vanity, or find one that was a stand-alone.

We ended up going for a stand-alone vanity to keep things in our budget.

I found this one from Pottery Barn that came with the countertop. And it worked out perfectly for the space we had!

We purchased the vanity when it was on sale, making it fit in our budget for the entire remodel.

Pulls For Vanity

The one downside to the vanity from Pottery Barn was that it already came with pulls. But they didn’t match our faucets for the sink. And I wanted them to match.

So I swapped them out for pulls from Amerock.

These pulls also matched the towel bars, hooks, and toilet paper holder.

Mirrors

Since I was staying in the black family for most things in the bathroom, I decided to add swivel mirrors with a black outline to each side of the vanity.

I found these two mirrors that would fit the space perfectly.

Lighting Above Vanity

My original thought for the lighting was to put three wall sconces next to the mirrors.

But we ended up not having the space to do that. So we added the orb sconces above the mirrors.

Wallpaper In Toilet Room

So one thing I wasn’t going to do was wallpaper anything in our bathroom.

But after living with the toilet room not having anything “special”, I knew I needed to do something.

I found wallpaper from Spoonflower that just fit the space perfectly!

Wall Color

I found this color before we moved into our house. And I knew I had to use it.

High Park By Benjamin Moore is the color we went with for the majority of the bathroom. And I love how it looks with the black vanity and tile.

We decided to extend the size of the shower, which created a weird corner in the bathroom.

To offset the expanded shower, I added a macrame plant holder. And used a bar cart to store our bathing items like bath bombs and towels.

Cost For Master Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom remodels vary in cost because you can easily go high-end and spend a lot of the fixtures. Or you can budget.

Size of the space matters as well. For smaller master bathrooms, it can be less. If you try to save the vanity or countertops, that can reduce the cost as well.

I would estimate that it would cost around $10,000 to $30,000 for a bathroom remodel.

So is it worth the investment?

According to Statista, as of October 2021:

  • Almost 60% of homeowners went through with a master bathroom remodel in order to update systems for more comfortable living
  • 50% of homeowners remodeled to increase shower size
  • 42% of homeowners changed the master bathroom layout during the remodel

So I would say it is worth the investment to remodel your bathroom.
